The department of education in Mpumalanga proudly congratulates winning educationists in the National Teachers Awards.
The Department extended its heartfelt congratulations to the respected teacher, LH Shabangu from Gert Sibande District, who emerged as the winner in the Excellence in Secondary School Leadership category at the 2026 National Teaching Awards Provincial Ceremony.
This outstanding achievement places a spotlight on the value of teachers who go beyond the classroom to unlock the potential of learners and contribute meaningfully to the future of education.
“Mr Shabangu’s accomplishment reflects the high calibre of teaching talent within the Place of the Rising Sun,” Lindi Masina, the education minister remarked. ” This accomplishment demonstrates that excellence in education is built through purpose, innovation, resilience and an commitment to learners,” Masons said.
She went on to say Shabangu’s success is a proud moment for Gert Sibande District and the entire Mpumalanga education sector. The departmentb also heaped praise on teacher TI Mazibuko from the Nkangala District in the province. The maths master won in the category Excellence in Teaching Mathematics (GET).
Teacher EM Jomo.got the highest position in the category Excellence in Inclusive Education Leadership. He is from Emhlangeni District.
