The Career Exhibition Information Association (CEIA) organised a series of career exhibitions for schools in the Thabo Mofutsanyana district in the Free State.
The exhibitions in career options were organised in partnership with the department of education in the district.
Learners in Bethlehem, Harrismith, Qwaqwa and Ladybrand attended these exhibitions over a period of two weeks in February.
A number of higher education institutions attended and offered services at the exhibitions. These included the universities of the Free State and Pretoria, the Vaal University of Technology, Tshwane University of Technology, South African Police Services, Motheo Tvet College, Maluti Tvet College,Busamed, Standard Bank and Rostec College.
The South African Institute of Charted Accountants (SAICA) shared in the proceedings too.
Teboho Mohajane the project manager at SAICA in the Free State, commented that they shared information with learners about a myriad of choices in the careers field to select from. “We shared information about the processes of getting in to different professions and what the requirements are. We gave information about bursaries too,” Mohajane said.
The Free State Nursing College together with Boitjhoriso Resource Centre were also part of the exhibition.
