The Western Cape (WC) departments of cultural affairs and sport (DCAS) and of education (WCED) will officially launch the WC school sport strategy on Tuesday the 10th February.
According to the DCAS this key initiative is aimed at strengthening school sport, Ricardo Mackenzie, the minister in the DCAS, said.“This will improve access to opportunities, and support holistic youth development across the province,” Mackenzie explained.
At the same event Mackenzie and the provincial minister of education, David Maynier, will honour the WC athletes who were crowned overall champions at the 2025 South African National School Sport Championships.
He elaborated: “The launch of the school sport strategy further represents a significant milestone in strengthening school sport as a catalyst for youth development, social cohesion, and healthier communities,” The strategy provides a clear framework for coordination, accountability, and sustainable impact across the school sport ecosystem.
