Profile:
EdunewsToday is in the media production fraternity.
The aim is to gather and distribute news in the educational field. News will include the arts, sports and other related events in the school and educational premises.
The objective is to deliver quality educational products that are inspirational, meaningful and thought provoking to readers and viewers.
The present product, EdunewsToday.co.za, focuses on news from schools, but gives us news from all educational institutions and offices across the educational field.
Our readers include school learners, educators, university students and lecturers and educational officials. Politicians and education policy makers also have an interest in our publication, as will anyone who is passionate about the subject of education.
We do the aforementioned because much of the developments and success and aspirations in the school premises were obscured from the eyes of the world. So much good is not reported to the world and is confined to those who know about it in the premises. Further, many schools do not have a presence on the internet.
Our vision is the world in which news in schools are easily accessible to the educational fields. News that is so meaningful to open the world to curious minds. Secondly, we look forward to exposing the aspirations of learners and their schools to the world.
Our mission is to work with schools and educational institutions to gather news to open the minds of the curious to the world.
EdunewsToday have interesting values.
- Truth
- Competence
- Cultural awareness
- Honesty
The directors, Kabeli Abia Lichàba and Charles Nkwenkwe have a history of working together in the past decade. They were together at Ekurhuleni News producing that community newspaper for the people of Ekurhuleni. They produced EduLight, a paper owned by Eddie Nkuna, for Ekurhuleni school learners and educators and officials alike. They also produced, for the business organisation SABHIBA, Vulindlela, a business community publication.
Lichaba looks after the editorial content and Nkwenkwe is an astute graphic designer.
The writers are mostly unemployed aspiring reporters and journalists. On the other hand, creative technical personnel are also waiting for their chance to join the mainstream media. We give them the opportunity to practise their skills, hone their administrative abilities and to widen their worldview. The same goes for the group of media practitioners like graphic designers.
We operate out of the world address. Okay, the head quarters are in Bloemfontein but thanks to digital technology, we are worldwide.
