INSIDE JOB – The Quest for Personal Discovery

A few years ago, there was a break-in at one of the computer labs.

As we arrived at the centre, we were shocked by the bad news. As the discussion continued, a loud whisper of the words “inside job” emerged.

Inquisitive, I asked what they meant by an “inside job.” And they explained in layman’s terms: it means whoever broke in had inside information. Someone who knew the place.

Bearing in mind that meaning, I realized that our lives are also about an inside job.

The last time you smiled from the inside, you could sustain that joy — because it came from the inside. But who would want to steal your joy like the computers in the lab? Someone who had access to your heart. Someone you let in.

We are largely not hurt by people’s bad deeds, but by the access we have given them.

An inside job can be managed by self-regulation.

We are going to dive deeper into the self in our next article. For now, *increase your barriers. It is not pride to say “no” — it is self-worth.*
