Think Like a Problem Solver: How Businesses Are Built on Real Needs

Most people try to start a business by asking:

“What can I sell?”

Entrepreneurs ask a better question:

“What problem can I solve?”

That’s where real business begins.

  1. Problems = Opportunities

Every problem around you is a hidden opportunity.

Look at your school or community:

  • Students struggle with homework
  • People get hungry during breaks
  • Some learners don’t have notes
  • Others need help with tech

These are not just problems.

They are business ideas waiting to happen.

  1. The Bigger the Problem, The Bigger the Opportunity

Not all problems are equal.

The best opportunities solve problems that are:

  • common (many people have them)
  • urgent (people need help now)
  • painful (people are frustrated)

If people feel the problem strongly, they are more willing to pay.

  1. Start Small, Solve One Problem Well

You don’t need to solve everything.

Start with one clear problem.

Example:

“Students struggle with Maths” → offer tutoring

“Learners forget notes” → sell printed summaries

“No snacks after school” → start a small food hustle

Focus wins.

  1. Listen More Than You Talk

Good entrepreneurs don’t guess.

They listen.

Ask people what they struggle with

Pay attention to complaints

Observe what people need daily

Your customers will tell you what to build.

  1. Solutions Create Income

Money doesn’t come from ideas alone.

It comes from solutions.

If you can solve a real problem:

  • people will support you
  • people will pay you
  • people will recommend you

That’s how businesses grow.

This Week’s Challenge

Ask yourself:

  1. What problems do I see every day?
  2. Which one can I solve right now?
  3. Who would benefit from my solution?
