The minister of education in the Western Cape, David Maynier, has urged communities in the province to be watchful and look after schools during the holidays.
“As schools close for the Easter break, “Maynier said, “we wish our learners, teachers and parents a peaceful holiday.”
He said schools are valuable community assets andall have a role to play in protecting them.
The department has subsidised holiday security at 443 schools. “This is the best defence against burglary and vandalism. Please report anything suspicious in and around school properties to SAPS immediately.
“We look forward to welcoming our teachers and learners back to school safely on the 8th of April!”
